Church Family News

Holiday Bible Club - 28th July - lst August
Booking … …

HBC booking has opened, and forms are available to download from the website. Please use the hard copies of the forms (at the back of church) as invitations to give to parents of children who do not come to church. We want to reach as many as possible with the gospel of Jesus and HBC provides each of us with a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbours who have children.

Recruitment … …
We still need a number of people to join the team. In particular we need people to work with small groups of children in the mornings.

If you are available for any part of the week - Monday through Friday, 28th July to 1st August - please contact Theresa Swan to discuss possibilities.

Wycliffe College summer placement - accommodation wanted
This year we will be having a Wycliffe Hall (Theological College in Oxford training people for ministry in the Church of England) student with us for 6 weeks from June 29th...his name is Carl Bicknell. He will be immersing himself in the life of the churches and I hope you will take the opportunity of welcoming him. Carl will need to stay locally for one or two nights a week - so that he can be ready for early morning meetings or stay late for others. The rest of the time he will commute daily from Oxford. It would be also helpful if he could make somewhere his base in the day when he has time between meetings/visits etc. His last Sunday will be August 3rd.
Could anyone help Carl? If so please contact Sandy at the church office.

Barkham Church Quiz Night
Please come along to a fun evening and get those little grey cells working!
All welcome.
Date: Saturday, 28th June
Location: Finchampstead Church Centre
Time: 8 pm
All for £3 !
If you wish to come please let Gavin or Jacki Brown know and they will be pleased to sell you a ticket!

Butterfly Walk - Sunday 6th July
Sunday July 6th, after church. Butterfly Walk. A leisurely walk of 2 miles or so in beautiful Pamber Forest near Silchester with the likelihood of seeing some of Britain's rarest and most spectacular butterflies, dragonflies, birds, flowers and a wealth of other wildlife. Suitable for all the family, although there may be a couple of muddy patches after rain so please wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch which we'll enjoy in a clearing in the forest. Meet at 11am after church, by the lych gate at the entrance to the church, after which we'll make the 20 minute journey to Silchester - lifts will be available if necessary, returning home mid-afternoon. For further information contact Alan Broodbank.

Girls only!
All you girls from 0 - 100 yrs of age are warmly invited to my house for a simple lunch on Monday, 14th July from 1.45 pm. Please be aware that I have an 18 month old little dog called "Jack" who will play with your toys if you bring them, will run off with your shoes should you take them off, or he may even remove your socks!

I thought this time I would ask everyone to make a donation of £1.50 which will go into the Barkham Church restoration fund. If you would like to come along would you please ring me by the 12th July.

Summer Sunday Club's @ Barkham and Arborfield
We would really like to continue to run activities for the children during the Summer holidays and also give the Sunday Club teachers a holiday! We are looking for volunteers to help out with some activities for the children during the school summer holidays. No experience required but you will need to be CRB checked - if required materials will be provided - all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!

We need volunteers for 10th/17th/24th and 31st August

If you can help or want to have a chat about what might be involved please contact Gavin or Jacki Brown for the Barkham congregation….. and please sign up on the sheet at the back of church if you are a member of the Arborfield congregation.

Found … … On the drive at the Rectory on Monday (9th June) …one silver avocet key on a 'Weight Watchers' silver key ring. Contact the church office if you think this could be yours!

Lost … … Arborfield Church Hall Key from Sunday 18th May.
