China and Burma
The devastation caused by the cyclone and tidal surge which hit Burma and the earthquake in China has shocked the whole world. The suffering is beyond imagining; in Burma Barnabas Fund estimate 100,000 dead, a million homeless and no one knows how many lacking food and fresh water.

Both OMF and Barnabas Fund are working with Christian partners to ensure that help is channeled quickly and efficiently to those affected. They both have good websites giving details about how to pray and how to give. Please consider acting now. www.omf.org.uk www.barnabasfund.org.uk

Holiday Bible Club - 28th July - lst August
HBC booking has opened, and forms are available to download from the website. Please use the hard copies of the forms (at the back of church) as invitations to give to parents of children who do not come to church - this is a good moment to invite ahead of half-term when many will be planning arrangements for summer holidays. We want to reach as many as possible with the gospel of Jesus and HBC provides each of us with a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbours who have children.
NB: To all those who are serving on HBC this year.. .. .. The 'all together' team meeting pencilled in for tomorrow….Monday, 9th June will NOT be taking place. You may well decide to use this evening for a team meeting instead.

Confirmation
Confirmation is for those who have already been baptised (often as infants when the declarations such as I turn to Christ were made on your behalf) and is an opportunity 'with your own mouth, and from your own heart, to declare your allegiance to Christ.'
Confirmation in the Church of England is conducted by the Bishop.
If you are trusting in Jesus and have not yet been baptised can I urge you to be baptised. This is in obedience to Jesus command - Repent and be baptised - and is an 'outward sign by which we receive what he has done for us; we are united with him in his death; we are granted the forgiveness of sins; we are raised with Christ to new life in the Spirit.'
On Thursday 13th November 2008, Bishop Stephen (Bishop of Reading) is coming to lead a confirmation service for the churches. If you want to know more, or have questions, or wish to be baptised or confirmed could you please let John, (White House), David (Barkham) or Piers (Arborfield) know by June 14th. We will be arranging some preparation sessions in the autumn for those being baptised and /or confirmed.
