To know Christ and to make Him known

A Warm welcome to St James Barkham

Welcome. We are a "family friendly" evangelical church, serving the people of Barkham and the wider area. We welcome those who want to investigate Christianity and those who want to know how to keep on following Jesus.

imageWe meet together at St James Church, Barkham on Sundays at 10am and 7pm, and the Youth Group ("Cave") meets at 5.30pm on Sundays.

Our Sunday morning service starts at 10am, and is usually followed by tea, coffee and biscuits. Children usually have their own activities for most of the service, but we always spend some time together with all ages.image

Our Sunday evening service (also known as "Sundays at 7") starts at 7pm, but tea, coffee and biscuits are served from approximately 6.45pm.

During each service, we look at the Bible together, pray and sing a mixture of old hymns and modern songs.

We also meet in various locations and groups throughout the week.

You can find out more about us and what we do by selecting one of the tabs at the top right of this page.

Some upcoming events :

London Men's Convention 2014

The 2014 London Men's Convention will take place on Saturday April 26. Exploring the thrilling theme of Resurrection, we will hear what the Bible has to say about the resurrection of Christ, creation and Christians, drawing out the wonderful implications that transform our daily life. Speakers are Graham Daniels, Vaughan Roberts, Pete Woodcock, Mark Greene and Dan Strange. The venue for LMC 2014 will be Central Hall Westminster and there will be the option to go to an early (10am) or Late (4pm) session. You can pick up a flyer from the back of church today, or find full details at www.christianconventions.org.

Christianity Explored

image We have one life. What is it all about? Run informally over a few evenings, Christianity Explored is a great way for anyone to find out about the Christian faith and ask any question they want. We are starting a new course after Easter. If you would like to join us or simply to find out, drop a line to Julian Bidgood .

South Central Women's Day

imageThis years South Central Women's Day is on Saturday 17th May at St Mary's Church, Maidenhead, 10am-4pm

The talks are on Hosea - The Impossible Bride and the love of God, and as usual there is a good choice of seminars for the afternoon.

Flower Arranging

I wonder do you notice what we have on our windowsills week by week? Usually we have flowers helping to enhance our worship. We have a small team of flower arrangers and we are looking for some new people to join us. We meet approximately every 3 weeks on a Friday morning. No experience is needed as training can be given.

Large print service sheets

We now produce a couple of large print copies of the service sheet and news sheet. Do bear them in mind if you are bringing a guest who may appreciate this. If you are visiting us and would like a large print copy, please feel welcome to ask when offered a service sheet.

Click on the '10ofthose' logo and you’ll find two things: First, a list of ten helpful books that we think anyone would benefit from reading; and secondly, three books that fit particularly well with things we are looking at as a church family right now. 10ofthose is an excellent Christian bookseller - so do take a few minutes to browse the rest of their site as well.
